PRODUCTION OF BIOETHANOL FROM CITRUS LIMETTA AND CITRUS MAXIMA FRUIT WASTE BY BATCH FERMENTATION
In the current study an attempt was made to standardize various parameters to increase the production of bioethanol from fruit pulp and peel waste. lessThan i greaterThan Citrus limetta lessThan /i greaterThan pulp lessThan i greaterThan , Citrus maxima lessThan /i greaterThan pulp and peel were used. Hot water pretreatment was found to be best suitable than that of dilute acid pretreatment. pH 3 was found to be more effective for fermentation reactions. Two different enzymes pectinase and α-amylase was used in combination with three different organisms, namely lessThan i greaterThan Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Kluyveromyces marixianus lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Zymomonas mobilis lessThan /i greaterThan at room temperature and 50°C. In lessThan i greaterThan Citrus limetta lessThan /i greaterThan pulp and lessThan i greaterThan Citrus maxima lessThan /i greaterThan pulp and peel the highest ethanol yield (24.61%) was obtained at pH 3 using Pectinase enzyme and lessThan i greaterThan Kluyveromyces marixianus lessThan /i greaterThan maintained at 50 lessThan sup greaterThan 0 lessThan /sup greaterThan C.
