<title>AN EFFICIENT AND SIMPLE METHODOLOGY COUPLING MICROWAVE ASSISTED EXTRACTION TO GC-MS FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF COMPONENTS IN ROOT BARK OF GUAZUMA TOMENTOSA </title>
Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) of phytochemicals from medicinal plants has generated tremendous research interest and shown great potential. In this study, MAE method coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to monitor the organic compounds of root bark of lessThan i greaterThan Guazuma tomentosa. lessThan /i greaterThan The extraction solvent, time and power were optimised prior to this. The GC-MS analysis of four fractions of the pet. ether extract led to the identification of 92 compounds including 17 flavonoids, 11 terpenoids, 3 steroids and a coumarin.
