<title>THE EFFICACY OF SPATHODEA CAMPANULATA P. BEAUV LEAF EXTRACT ON SOME BACTERIAL AND FUNGAL STRAINS BY WELL DIFFUSION METHOD </title>
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the qualitative analysis of phytochemicals and antimicrobial activity of chloroform, acetone, methanol and aqueous extracts of lessThan i greaterThan Spathodea campanulata. lessThan /i greaterThan The antimicrobial activity of different extracts of lessThan i greaterThan S. campanulata lessThan /i greaterThan was tested against the Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains and fungi by agar well diffusion method. The Gram- positive bacteria used in the test were lessThan i greaterThan S.aureus, B.subtilis, B.megaterium, S.mutans lessThan /i greaterThan and the Gram-negative bacteria were lessThan i greaterThan E.coli, K.pneumoniae, P.aeruginosa, lessThan /i greaterThan fungi like lessThan i greaterThan A.niger, A.flavus, T.viridae and C.albicans. lessThan /i greaterThan It was observed that methanol extract exhibited maximum activity against lessThan i greaterThan S. mutans, lessThan /i greaterThan lessThan i greaterThan P.aeruginosa, A. flavus and C.albicans lessThan /i greaterThan . Chloroform and acetone extracts were exhibited moderate activity and aqueous extract exhibited less activity against the tested microorganisms. In this study different extracts of leaves of lessThan i greaterThan Spathodea campanulata lessThan /i greaterThan exhibited varying degree of inhibition to the growth of tested organisms. The results confirmed the presence of antibacterial and antifungal activity of lessThan i greaterThan Spathodea campanulata lessThan /i greaterThan leaf extracts against various human pathogenic microorganisms.
