10.22376/ijpbs.2019.10.1.p1-12 Volume 12 Issue 3 2021 (July-September) Pediatric diseases are elaborately explained in the siddha medical system along with several herbal medicines for their treatment without any adverse effects. Common cold or acute naso pharyngitis is an inflammation of the pharyngeal regions which is characterized by upper respiratory infection or rhinitis. Based on the symptoms, this acute naso pharyngitis is compared to neer kana maantham in siddha medicine and the effectiveness of various herbal treatments is assessed. The present study was aimed to evaluate the activity of Maantha Kiyaalam in treating Neer kana Maantham in 40 cases. The assessment was done both before the treatment and after the treatment which showed clinical improvement in the symptoms of the children after the treatment giving more evidence for the effectiveness of Maantha Kiyaalam in the treatment of acute naso pharyngitis.
