<title>Evaluation Of Some Medicinal Plants For Their Dandruff Control Properties </title>
Dandruff caused by lessThan i greaterThan Malassezia lessThan /i greaterThan spp is controlled by antifungal agents. In the present study four medicinal plants- lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia bellerica, Terminalia chebula, Emblica officinalis lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Lantana camara- lessThan /i greaterThan were selected to check their antifungal activity. Their efficacy was tested using different concentrations of extracts in various solvents. The antifungal activity of the plant extracts was determined by well diffusion method. Among the four plants screened, lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia bellerica lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia chebula lessThan /i greaterThan exhibited good antifungal action against the test organism. lessThan i greaterThan Emblica officinalis lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Lantana camara lessThan /i greaterThan did not show significant antidandruff activity. Aqueous and ethanolic extract of a combination of lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia bellerica lessThan /i greaterThan with lessThan i greaterThan Lantana camara, and Terminalia chebula lessThan /i greaterThan with lessThan i greaterThan Lantana camara lessThan /i greaterThan were tested for their synergistic antidandruff activity. Results of the synergistic studies indicated that synergy exists between ethanolic extracts of lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia chebula lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Lantana camara lessThan /i greaterThan . From the study, it was found that lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia bellerica lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Terminalia chebula lessThan /i greaterThan act as the good sources of antidandruff agents.
